Windows Infrastructure Analyst - 3rd Line Server Support + Sophos Firewall + Azure

Established global supply chain company requires experienced 3rd line Windows Infrastructure Analyst to join a small friendly Service Desk team supporting 170+ internal IT users across several sites and contributing to substantial upgrade projects including on going firewall upgrades and an imminent move to Azure for cloud data storage.
Hands on technical support within IT, Communications and business systems in an ITIL based service desk environment - troubleshooting issues through to resolution, configuring devices, installing new software and monitoring / maintaining existing systems. Some occasional UK travel required.
Day to day you will take ownership of any business critical 3rd Line support tickets through to resolution.
Provide 2nd and 3rd Line Support in all technical areas, ensuring close relations with customers, suppliers and support contracts.
Proactively monitor the infrastructure to ensure a high level of performance is maintained throughout the IT estate.
Proactively manage deployment, planning and maintenance of software and hardware.
Proactively manage and maintain Active directory, Office 365, Group policy, user accounts and relevant file security permissions.
Manage phone / networking systems including capacity planning, performance monitoring and contract negotiations
Ensure the 1ST/2nd line team members provide a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to SLA's
Working on implementation projects for new software and hardware technologies
Update and manage the consistency and quality of documentation on the knowledge base
Required skills and experience:
4+ years' experience with Windows 7/8 and Windows 10, Windows Server 2008/2012 and 2016, Remote Desktop/Terminal services environments.
Patch deployment and software upgrades, with great fault finding and problem resolution.
Flexible approach to work with a focus on delivery to deadlines and high standards.
Server and networking hardware (HP and Sophos preferred).
Net App and HP MSA SAN hardware experience.
Microsoft Office 2013, 2016 and Office 365 including Outlook setup and troubleshooting.
Deep understanding of TCP/IP Networking and experience with DHCP, DNS, vLAN and VPN's / Firewalls (ideally Sophos).
VMware virtualisation environments experience.
Set up and support of mobile devices e.g. phones and tablets.
Negotiating and Purchasing of products and services from 3rd party suppliers.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure is particularly of interest for a major up-coming migration.
Desirable (in no way essential):
Any understanding of supply chain / logistics type business.
Applications including MS Visio, MS Project.
Any MS SQL / SSIS / SSRS exposure.
Familiarity of Open Edge / Progress databases.
Ability to lead small teams of technical staff and deliver to agreed Service Level Agreements and actively prioritising team's workload accordingly.
Any Project Management skills.
Producing management reports to line managers and key stake holders.
Understanding of business impacts due to loss of services whether physical or not. (Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity).
ITIL philosophy and standards.
Must be a good team worker, able to deal at all levels with great comms skills and attention to detail.
