Infrastructure Engineer - Servers, Virtualisation, Networking

£28,000 - £32,000 pa + Great Benefits + On call

Burton on Trent, Staffordshire - Commute via Derby, Tamworth, Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, North Birmingham

Experienced Infrastructure Engineer required by established Plc business services company with health care related software systems products subsidiary near Burton On Trent

The work revolves around supporting specialist technical infrastructure systems, with a focus on security, resilience and process.

The Role:

Design, setup, documentation and support of business-critical infrastructure components, including:

Active Directory

Hyper-V virtualization (will be happy with VMWare experience)

Containerisation

Virtual Desktop Environments

Application publishing servers

LAN, WAN, VLAN and VPN technologies and routing

Firewalls configuration (any vendor)

Windows server support

Monitoring and supporting Cloud services components

Nice to haves:

Microsoft SQL database cluster support

Any Linux (CentOS / Debian in particular)

You be good at:

Fault rectification in a timely manner

Dealing with internal and external clients on support related issues

Installation, maintenance and upgrading of existing systems

Recording and updating problems and solutions in a knowledge base

Mentor and support colleagues, sharing knowledge and expertise

Ensure that infrastructure services are available to published SLAs.

Required Skills and Experience:

Windows Server

Any CentOS, Redhat and Ubuntu experience of interest but not essential

Diagnostic skills

Knowledge of network principals such as TCP/IP, routing, and firewalls

Ability to work under pressure to deadlines, with clear, methodical thinking and recording

An approachable, proactive outlook with excellent communication skills

The ability to work in a small team and also to work autonomously

Ability to solve and relish everyday problems, to troubleshoot successfully.

Any Microsoft Technology Associate certifications or equivalent will strengthen your application.

Own car essential due to rural location.

Some (expensed UK travel) required in the day to see other sites
