Application Support Engineer - Windows, SQL Server, Cloud

Stafford, Staffordshire - Commutable from Stoke, Cannock, Wolverhampton, Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, Ashbourne and Telford

£30,000 - £35,000 + Bonus + Great benefits

Leading International Software Solutions Vendor (Work Flow and BI Systems) requires experienced 2nd line Application support person with MS SQL Skills to support worldwide managed Cloud services (Azure)

The Role:

Installation support for new clients/projects

Help support (technical and end user) to clients worldwide

Product Support including the installation, documentation, and development of application configurations

Dealing with requests for support within SLA's in relation to faults, enhancements, end user queries, technical audits, software installations and changes in licensing & upgrades

Maintaining awareness of service management developments, new technology/operating environments and knowledge of software products

Helping to develop the overall support function to aid the worldwide business growth plans of the company

Ensuring that adequate records are maintained for all products, clients and installations to support client support and service management activity

Work in partnership with the software team to develop & test and manage the release and distribution of hot fixes

Required Skills and Experience:

Commercial experience of working within a customer IT Helpdesk supporting both internal and external customers - including logging calls, updating customers and providing resolutions

Commercial experience of working within the core areas of the ITIL framework especially Incident and Change Management

Experience of demonstrating effective support client management skills

Proven ability to analyse data effectively, design, produce and maintain reporting mechanisms for customers and management

Good knowledge of MS SQL to enable investigations and troubleshooting into both customer and internal support issues

Understanding of Jira or other similar issue / call management systems

Understanding of modern architectures, to include Cloud based and on-premise solutions

Good general understanding of up to date network operating systems and infrastructures

Good MS Office including Excel

Good hand on team player

Ability to be highly organised and adapt quickly to changes in priorities

Having a flexible approach to work hours with some travel and out of hours support as part of a rota

Experience of working with package applications and database infrastructure in an enterprise environment

Experience of introducing new systems/process/ways of working in order to continually meet evolving demands

Experience of working within an international support environment is preferred

Experience in managing small projects from conception through to delivery

Ability to articulate technical language to non-technical language and vice versa both in written and verbal manner is essential to communicate effectively with customers, internal technical teams and management

Keep up to date with knowledge of software products and with industry knowledge
